The distinct soprano voice of Karen Peck-Gooch has become one of the most beloved and recognizable voices in Southern Gospel Music. A former member of The Nelons, then an established solo artist, Karen and her husband, Rickey, organized New River in 1991, along Susan Peck-Jackson, Karen’s sister. The group now consists of Karen, Susan, and new addition, Jeff Hawes, a top three contestant in the Gospel Music Channel’s 2008 reality show, Gospel Dream.
Karen Peck & New River firmly established their place at the forefront of Southern Gospel Music with a vast array experiences and honors including: multiple Grammy nominations, numerous television appearances, a presence on prominent stages such as the Grand Ole Opry, an impressive list Number One songs on gospel radio, and countless industry and fan awards to their credit. The credit, however, they give to Christ.
Karen states: “Each time we go into the studio to record a new album, we’re at a different place in our walk with Christ…. obviously, each recording pulls at a different heartstring, yet the message of hope is always present. That’s what life in Christ is all about. As a result of various circumstances each of us have faced over the past years, we’re at a point in our lives where we realize that anything we achieve or accomplish is all because of Christ. It is an honor to serve Him.”
