Mark Lowry

He is a Dove Award winning vocalist and humorist, and lyricist for one of the best-loved Christmas standards of all time, “Mary Did You Know?” Mark Lowry joined the Gaither Vocal Band in 1988 to sing baritone and it didn’t take long for his legacy to be forever sealed as a communicator who could, at once, make audiences laugh, cry, and think. He has appeared in nearly 100 Homecoming releases and during his first 13 years as GVB baritone, he also grew a successful solo career which he further nurtured during a 7-year break from the group.

In 2009, when the current all-star configuration of the Gaither Vocal Band began to take shape, Mark knew it was time to return. Now 52, Mark has grown up a bit since we first met him… and he has only gotten better. His gift for communicating profound truths through music and storytelling, along with his innately entertaining personality, keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.  We are blessed to have him back and we know you are, too.
