SONGWRITING INTENSIVE 2019
EXCITING NEWS FROM GLORIA GAITHER!

I am sorry to have kept you in suspense about the 2019 Gaither Songwriting Intensive, but it was for a very exciting reason!

This year we are moving the Intensive to the beautiful campus of Indiana Wesleyan University just up the road 20 miles in Marion, Indiana.

This will expand our possibilities for retreat interaction, collaboration, and serious learning.  We will have beautiful spaces inside (dining together, practice rooms for sharing songs, and well-equipped classrooms) and outside (lovely green-spaces, gardens, and seating for plucking out new songs on guitars).  This move will also offer the possibility of college credit to college and university Songwriting Majors.

This year our professional songwriting clinicians will be:

MICHAEL KELLY BLANCHARD—master musical story-teller and troubadour

CINDY MORGAN—12 Dove Award winning contemporary recording artist-song
writer, and mentor to young artists and writers

BUDDY GREENE—favorite Homecoming singer/harmonica master/writer and authority on bluegrass and authentic American folk music

NICHOLE NORDEMAN—Seasoned and professional Contemporary songwriter, singer, and recording artist with a richly diverse catalog of story, worship, and gospel songs

TODD SYSWERDA—Professor of Music and head of the Songwriting Major at IWU, Dr. Syswerda with will be leading an evening session in useful and necessary principals of theory and composition for songwriters.

GLORIA GAITHER—lyric writer, script writer, book author, and educator with a passionate heart for young people and a mission to raise the quality bar on songwriting in all of its genres

Several of you have already registered for this year, so I would encourage you who haven’t to get your reservation in right away to hold your spot for this exciting year.

HOUSING:  Having this Songwriting Intensive on this lovely campus allows us to offer town houses - where each attendee could have their own room, with an option to share that room with a spouse or family member.  Each town house has three bedrooms, a common room, and a kitchen area.  We will also do our best to accommodate those who would rather avoid stairs.  All lodging is within a 3-minute walk to the Performing Arts Center and the Student Center (where we will have our meals).

After you register you will be hearing from Dr. Todd Syswerda, following up and welcoming you to the IWU campus for June 6-9.  The Intensive will begin on Thursday evening and run through worship on Sunday morning. As always, we will have our meals together and share the evening experience as one body.

We can’t wait to see you in this exciting new campus venue!  Register early!
