Homecoming Bible – Mark 4:39

Homecoming Bible – Excerpt by Ernie Haase

In the midst of the storm Jesus was found sleeping.  Wow, can anyone say they sleep peacefully when their boat is rocking?  I cannot, I do not sleep well when everything is fine, much less in the storms of life.

But I have found that the more I trust, the better I sleep.  Peace is the gauge for us Christians to tell if we are truly trusting.  We could make millions of dollars, but nothing can buy peace.  Jesus wishes for us, His children, to live in peace.  I did not say problem-free, but in peace while in the midst of the storm.

The reason Jesus slept was that He was tired.  Are you tired?  Then sleep in peace, knowing that the Master of the sea will awaken to your cries of faith and say, “Peace, be still” to whatever storm you are going through.  The storms may not cease immediately, but you can know that He Himself is the peace in the midst of the storm.

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace be still!”
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
– Mark 4:39
