DÉCOR TRENDS FROM GLORIA

This season brings some fresh new ideas for making our homes full of sparkle and warmth for the Christmas season. Here are a few!

–Ornaments and objects of felt and boiled wool! Elves, Santas, woods animals, deer mice, garden gnomes, nativity figures—all made from soft, unbreakable boiled wool and felt.

–Icey crystal! Lighted nativities, churches, candles, snowmen…all made of clear (but unbreakable “crystal” to bring light, sparkle, and even music to every mantle, table, and kitchen counter. Also, real glass ice drops and icicle and delicate touches to reflect light everywhere.

–Pom-poms. Yes, garlands, wreaths, table-top trees, and ornaments of soft pom-poms in cream, pinks, and whites. This look is perfect for the gentle touch in the powder room, girls’ rooms, and parlor mantle. Combine with “sugar plum” ballet dancers, pink felt stars, and playful pink and white boiled wool elves.

–Surprising greens! This year the traditional green representing new life is showing up as lime, olive, chartreuse, emerald, and mint—all of which pair beautifully with reds from scarlet to tomato, wine to blush. Combine with metals: silver, gold, old gold, copper and bronze.
